Advantages of LTL Freight

Advantages Of LTL Freight

Less than truckload (LTL) freight is used to ship to ship products and other cargo that do not require a full truckload. Therefore, multiple different shipments are transported via a single truck. These shipments weigh anywhere between 100-10000 pounds.

LTL Freight has its pros and cons. Let’s look at the following three advantages of LTL Freight:

  1. LOW COST: Since the truckload contains multiple smaller shipments, you are only supposed to pay for the space that you use as your package does not take up the entire truck space.
  2. ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY: In case of LTL Shipping, fewer trucks are used as opposed to multiple trucks carrying full loads. As a result, there is less emission.
  3. REDUCE EXPENSES ON SHARED RESOURCES: Companies who cannot load a whole truck can merge their shipments with other companies through LTL transportation. They will only have to pay for the space that they are using, thereby, reducing the cost as opposed to using a whole new truck for it.
