LTL (less than truckload) freight refers to the transportation of products and goods that do not require a full truckload. These smaller freight loads typically result in many separate shipments being transported on one truck. Though LTL Freight has advantages like cost effective, environmentally friendly, etc. it also has some disadvantages.
The following are the disadvantages of LTL Freight transportation:
1. TIME CONSUMING: LTL Freight takes longer to arrive because each truck contains shipments from several clients heading to multiple places. In exchange for flexibility, time is consumed.
2. FINDING A RELAIBLE CARRIER: Unlike FTL (full truckload) shipping, not all carriers offer LTL Shipping. Finding a carrier for LTL shipping for the right price and reliability can be challenging.
3. CHANCES OF GOODS GETTING DAMAGED: When the truck makes multiple stops to drop-off or pickup goods, your freight may be damaged as other goods are removed or loaded.
